The Bog Grove Fairy
-2 oz. Silver
-1 oz. Orange juice
-1/2 oz. Simple syrup
- 1/2 oz. Cranberry juice
-3 dashes, Peychaud's bitters
Add all the ingredients into a shaker filled with ice.
Shake until chilled, then strain small, chilled glass.
Garnish as desired (or leave it plain, it’s strange enough as it is!).
With a name like that, how can it not be good?! The truth is that when Master Distillery Brian J. Roan created this delicious, fruit-forward beverage, he had no idea what to call it. Then he realized that oranges grew in groves, and cranberries come from bogs, and well, it may not make a lot of sense but you can see the logic. What matters, is that this playful, tasty cocktail should please everyone at the picnic, weird name or not.
The balance here is between the overwhelming citrus of the orange juice and the tartness of the cranberry. The simple syrup helps to settle things down a bit, the bitters add a touch of aromatic harmony, and the Silver… well the Silver does its part with a gentle kick and a delicious rye character.
